Greetings!

Play is mostly enacted by children and we might think of it as frivolous or non-serious. But watch any kid play and you'll notice they're seriously absorbed in it. Play is freely chosen, intrinsically motivated and personally directed. So even though you're a big grown up now, you can choose an attitude of playfulness in your daily activities and it will do more than just put you in a good mood. Adding play into your routine can increase happiness, dissolve stress and strengthen the bond of interpersonal relationships.

When I'm about thirty-five minutes into teaching my hardcore fitness class, Booty Kickin' Sculpt, I like to remind  students that if they think of the workout as a game, it'll make the time pass more quickly and end up encouraging more intensity in the exercises. We love to laugh it up in there and we make playful energy a part of the curriculum.


When Danny, Curtis, Nils, Robertito or any of SWERVE's excellent drummers enhance the beats for us in class, they're
playing and they usher us into the play with their rhythms.

SWERVE desk-workers, Darcy, Luisa, Maggie, Krista, Ramona, Emily and Tiffany are engaged in a playful competition to see who can take the most classes in a 30-day period. We'll award the winner $100 when the game is completed in 10 days!

Go see a play! Act playfully. Watch children playing. Enjoy making time for yourself to play setting aside time during the upcoming Memorial Day holiday and during your workouts. It will lighten you up and put a smile on many faces. You'll notice plenty of those smiling faces and much laughter too, at SWERVE.
