The weather is looking phenomenal this weekend and we will be at UNCA 10AM to noon on Saturday.  I want to say thanks to all of you die hard market shoppers showing up in the pouring rain last Saturday - your dedication never ceases to amaze me.

News from the farm.....
     They are here!!!!

Our first new arrivals showed up on Sunday at 7AM.  Pictured here is one of our favorite ewes, Little One. She is one of our first lambs born into our Katahdin herd and a orphaned bottle baby that Stephen grew attached to.  Six years later, she is still very friendly and a great mom.  We had to assist a little bit as she was growing quite tired and did not want to push.  I disinfected my hands, soaped them up for lubrication and gave a little tug during her next contraction.

As of this evening, there are 17 new lambs in the barn....lots more to come...

Lamb Barley Stew

1 pound East Fork Farm Lamb Kabob

or substitute with 2# lamb riblets

1 Cup barley

1 Tablespoon olive oil

3 medium carrots chopped

1 Teaspoon salt

4 Cups lamb or chicken stock

1 Teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary

1 Bay leaf

2 cloves garlic

 

In large crock pot combine all ingredients and slow cook all day.  Remove rib bones if necessary.  Serve with fresh bread.   Yummm!!
