Reno, NV 2012

Not breaking with tradition, the American Tackle Company showed its support for the fly fishing industry in Reno, Nevada by participating in the 2012 IFTD industry show. Year after year this show has been AT's best way to connect with rod builders, dealers and rod manufacturers involved with fly fishing. Despite a reported down turn in dealer attendance, AT was not disappointed this year, due to new business won and projects renewed. Quality over quantity is always an American Tackle focus.

This year's event saw a full staff consisting of Joe Meehan, Ben Stein & Darrin Heim manning the booth.

A particular point of interest was the large array of American Tackle Window Seats. It's always many rod builders' favorite stop in the booth.

Matrix blanks were prominently displayed along with rods assembled entirely of AT components. These rods were available for casting demos in 4wt., 5wt. & 8wt. models. Many casters remarked that they perform as well or better than many of the rods present at the show.

Also present were American Tackle's snake guides & tops as well as the favored Ring Lock guides. Whether constructed of solid titanium or stainless steel, Ring Lock guides are perfect stripping guides for every premium fly rod. Many rods at the show featured Ring Lock guides:

2012 IFTD's Best Saltwater Fly Rod winner was R.L. Winston's "Boron III-SX 9'9wt."  Over 80 years of fly rod building history and experience culminated into this new Boron III series.   In the words of Winston's technical advisor Joan Wulff, "Boron IIIx rods are an amazing combination of speed, power and Winston smoothness". Congratulations Team Winston!

Beulah Fly Rod's "Surf Rod Series" is James Beulah's recent introduction for fly fishing the surf. Featuring solid titanium oversized Titan Ring Lock stripping guides for light weight and corrosion proof flexibility. These rods focus on big fish and big casts.

Scott Fly Rod's "S4 & S4S" series are certainly premium high performance fly rods. Scott's dedicated angler-craftsmen have created this series focused on performance and durability. These fly rods utilize solid titanium Titan Ring Lock frames on all freshwater through saltwater models to deliver on their focus.

C.F. Burkheimer's "Classic & Vintage Styles" include Ring Lock guides on some of the most elite fly rods ever offered. Burkheimer known for commissioned custom construction rods designed & produced from blank & rod to actual guides & seats, in house start to finish. AT is truly honored to find components on some of these builds.

A new introduction from Orvis, the"Helios 2" series utilizes the Titan Ring Lock frames through-out the line, just like the original Helios series that boasts the lightest weight fly rod in the world. This new introduction "the second coming", was designed to be stronger and even lighter than before and unlike anything they've presented before.

Our own Ben Stein made a personal quest to cast every 8wt. fly rod on the show floor. Ben also represented AT in the Pond Hog Hero casting competition using a 9'5wt. He finished in the top 10 and fell short by only a few to some of the world's best casting gurus. Congratulations Ben!
