Testing The New Microwave Guide System
on
Florida Largemouth Bass

Bushido logo

On July 28, 2012 American Tackle employee Ben Stein guided Kathy Wartha around local golf course ponds around Orlando, Florida. Their target was the Florida Strain Largemouth Bass.  Ben and Kathy were armed with the Bushido MB73/8-15 featuring the New Microwave Guide System.  They began fishing at 7 a.m. and by 7:15 Kathy struck first with an impressive Bass that took a soft plastic.

With the combination of the power of the Bushido blank and the control of the Microwave Guides, Kathy was able to set the hook and land the Bass like a seasoned Bass Tournament Professional.  The blank and guide layout allowed Kathy to produce distance and accuracy just as well as a trained professional.

After 5 minutes, a school of Bass erupted in the middle of the pond and Kathy was able to reach them with pinpoint accuracy and landed another nice fish.

Kathy and Ben were able to land many more fish with the help of the Bushido MB73/8-15 and the New Microwave Guide System.  Other Rods that were used stayed in the rack the rest of the day due to the effortless casting and control of the new Microwave Guide System.

Most of the fish were caught on un-weighted soft plastics and the Microwave guides allowed Kathy and Ben to cover so much water per cast.  The Microwave Guides reduction in friction and the power of the Bushido Mag Bass increased the angler's ability to cast further with unweighted baits and set the hook and fight a fish with the greatest of ease.

Meet American Tackle Pro Staff Member Matt Sewell

Matt Sewell was born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida. He was lucky enough to grow up with a family that spent a lot of time outside. Matt enjoys doing anything outdoors, but fishing is his passion. He has been fishing the area of Pine Island Sound, Charlotte Harbor, Sanibel, and Fort Myers Beach his whole life.

Back in 2006, Matt started messing around online and decided to try to build his own rods. At first, Matt just built good rods for himself. Not really good looking rods, but functional rods. Everything from then on has just snowballed into becoming a serious rod builder. Matt stated," I am the type of guy that is always focused on quality. The large majority of the rods I build are built with top quality components." Matt does a lot with graphite tubing and abalone. Almost every rod he has built has some sort of abalone inlay or graphite handle.
