American Tackle Pro Staffers in Attendance |
Brad Parker
Vancleave, Misissippi
Brad Parker sent in his application to become a Pro Staff member and indicated his skills for rod building were that of a beginner. But, what we saw was mad potential. Brad is an industrial engineer, but an outdoorsman at heart. He began building rods after becoming frustrated with the production rods on the market. |
Derwood Roberts
Merritt Island, Florida
Growing up on the east coast of Central Florida, Capt. Derwood Roberts spent most of his time fishing with his father who ran an offshore charter boat. He fished on charter boats, commercial fishing boats and scuba dived for over 20 years. Derwood started building fishing rods while still in college as a hobby. He would build rods when he couldn't go fishing. When his friends starting asking him to build rods for them at their specifications and colors, it led to a new venture and he started Adventurous Custom Rods.

Matt Sewell
Ft. Myers, Florida
Matt Sewell was born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida. Matt enjoys doing anything outdoors, but fishing is his passion. He has been fishing the area of Pine Island Sound, Charlotte Harbor, Sanibel, and Fort Myers Beach his entire life. Back in 2006, Matt started messing around online and decided to try to build his own rods. At first, Matt just built good rods for himself. Not really good looking rods, but functional rods. Everything from then on has just snowballed into becoming a serious rod builder.

Bruce Vetre
Guilford, Conneticut
Growing up along the shoreline and having a father who supplied fish to the local markets and restaurants, it seemed Bruce Vetre's destiny to become a fisherman was pre-determined. His first experience with a custom rod came when he was 10 years old and his father bought him one for his birthday. At the age of 13, he couldn't find a rod with all the features he wanted, so Bruce decided to build one for himself. Who knew that would foster the passion that still burns 34 years later. |
Billy Vivona
Staten Island, New York
Billy started building rods in the year 2000, and immediately was hooked on the artistic aspect of the craft. His reputation grew as he began teaching others his tricks at local seminars. This led to Billy forming The NERBs, a worldwide group of builders who specialize in Rod building art. In 2007 Billy authored his first book, "Decorative Wraps" and is currently working on his second book, "Decorative Grips." He pens a Decorative column for Rodmaker Magazine, and hosts rod building seminars at his shop located in Staten island NY all Fall & Winter.
