The Matrix Stalks the Flats

Jordan showing a redfish and a 9' 7 wt. Matrix fly rod
Alexander introduced this trout to his Matrix

Early morning field testing - Alex, Jordan and Collin hit Florida's Indian River Lagoon with Matrix blank rods in hand. Stalking redfish and trout the boys managed to put up double digit numbers of both while exploring fly and spinning rod options in great detail. Alex says, "My AMSP843-2 worked perfectly for smaller swim baits, jerkbaits & spoons while the AMF907 was perfect for turning the smaller fly presentations." All three dedicated anglers are well versed in fly/spin applications and hit salt or freshwater every single day providing a perfect source for feedback on design and performance. American Tackle thanks them and foresees more Matrix & Bushido blank testing in their future.  For Matrix specifications click on Matrix logo above.

Meet American Tackle Pro Staff Member
Bruce Vetre

Growing up along the shoreline and having a father who supplied fish to the local markets and restaurants, it seemed Bruce Vetre's destiny to become a fisherman was pre-determined. His first experience with a custom rod came when he was 10 years old and his father bought him one for his birthday. Bruce remembers it was quite a feeling getting a gift like that! When Bruce hit his teens, his fishing interests turned to Tournament Bass fishing. At the age of 13, he couldn't find a rod with all the features he wanted, so Bruce decided to build one for himself. Who knew that would foster the passion that still burns 34 years later.

Bass rods are still the bulk of VRC business. To that end, his driving force has been to create unique custom handle systems exampled by the patented American Tackle Vetre Matrix Handle. Bruce stated, "With so much focus on grips today, we are continuing to explore more unique styles and designs to offer to our customers for years to come."

uses. ATC remained skeptical of those borrowed uses in standard casting & spinning applications until, Boyd Duckett commissioned ATC to produce a special proprietary guide for his Micro Magic rods. The Artus micro guides were the results. The Micro Guides feature the "Ring Lock" & "Foot Lock" designs to hold rings in frames and frames on rods.
