American Tackle Participates at Fred Hall Show

March, Long Beach California - American Tackle's Darrin Heim was honored to assist Seeker fishing rods with support for their dealers and provide insight to consumers as to why solid titanium guides are the first choice on their rods. "Performance and durability is everything when designing our rods, from our unique resin systems and composite construction to the parts we match it to" says Seeker's Randy Penny. He continues, "Solid titanium guide frames offer reduced weight and increased flexibility that allows our blanks to perform more naturally when loading and recovering so it makes sense that we spared no expense to incorporate them into our premium rod lines". Now that Seeker is an American Tackle component distributor, Darrin's participation was perfect for conveying the Titan guides' attributes to prospective rod customers and custom rod builders alike. Darrin says, "I was amazed at how well received our products are in So Cal and impressed with the consumer's desire for quality and performance which is exactly what are guides focus on".

The largest fishing show in the country saw Seeker Fishing Rods unveil their "super booth" which featured the transom of a Long Range fishing boat as their stage for fishing seminars by noted skippers and industry experts.

American Tackle products were displayed in the custom rod section devoted to the exposure of the craft. Amazing demonstrations in weaving from the world renown "Dragon Master" Jim Upton and his Wonder Weaver as well as Mo of Fishermen's Depot wrapping rods in the booth during the show.

Meet American Tackle Pro Staff Member
Derwood Roberts

 derwwood

Growing up on the east coast of Central Florida, Capt. Derwood Roberts spent most of his time fishing with his father who ran an offshore charter boat. During his high school and college years Derwood earned an income as a mate or captain and gained experience as an offshore fishing guide. He fished on charter boats, commercial fishing boats and scuba dived for approx 20 years. Derwood started building fishing rods while still in college as a hobby. He would build rods when he couldn't go fishing. After college, Derwood built his own 35-foot sportfishing boat from a bare hull, which he operated as a charter boat for several years. He eventually moved into other fields but fishing always remained a constant. Currently working as a subcontract administrator for a major defense contractor, Derwood decided to start building rods for his own use and to relax. When his friends starting asking him to build rods for them at their specifications and colors, it led to a new venture and he started Adventurous Custom Rods.

"I use the best components available to satisfy my fellow fishermen," he says. "But I still enjoy fishing with my friends and family."
