From the Executive Director:

Dear Colleagues,

Mobile Learning / BYOD / 1:1 / Hybrid Learning / Blended Learning / Mobile Learning / Online Learning / Tablets / APPS / Mobile Devices / Augmented Reality!

The pace at which technology is moving and changing the way we educate our children and operate our institutions is very FAST and there is no sign it is slowing!

How can you keep up on all of this and provide the support that your school leaders need to make critical decisions? Here are some resources that may help:

  1. NAIS has done significant research about technology in schools including a recently released survey on Mobile Learning - you can find their information HERE - you may need to be a NAIS member to access some of these reports.
  2. CoSN (Consortium for School Networking) - for the past four years CoSN in partnership with New Media Consortium (www.nmc.org) have published the Horizon Report K-12 Edition. I have found this to be the most valuable single resource of information about trends in technology in the K-12 education sector. You can access the report and related toolkit at no cost HERE.
  3. The "Committed Sardine" blog by Ian Jukes is a great resource and provides quick fast updates on trends in technology - you can join and become a committed sardine by clicking HERE.
  4. I use Twitter as a good resource for professional development. Most of the people that I follow are talking about trends and issues with educational technology - I try to keep up and look at this about once a week and try to 'tweet' something relevant when I come across it - so if you are thinking about tweeting, you may want to follow @marcll by starting HERE

The upcoming MISBO / SAIS Annual Conference is full of great opportunities to learn about technology trends in independent schools. Enjoy the ride!

Sincerely,

Marc Levinson

Pictures of Your School for the Website

The new MISBO website has launched, and we have received wonderful feedback!

We would like to add additional photographs to our homepage showcasing different member schools, and what makes each of them unique.

Thank you to all the schools that have already submitted photos - they clearly show what wonderful institutions we work for - but we want more! Do you have a LEED Certified Building to highlight, pictures of an historical event or anniversary, or a new building addition to your campus? Perhaps your students have had an outstanding performance you would like to showcase? Share your stories with other members! Try to include at least one photo that bears your school's name or logo if possible.

We need your image in the following format:

Format - .JPG or .PNG       Dimensions are: 570 X 300

If you would like us to post an image of your school on our website, please send the approved photograph to cherylgoode@misbo.com
 Thank you!

Rights/Permissions: MISBO may use any or all of these photos, or a derivative thereof, in print or digital media at any time, with attribution to your school. If you submit photos which include minor children, please be certain that you have a signed photo/media release for them.

We specialize in short term and long term leases and offer a wide array of buses ranging from 15 Passenger School Activity to 44 Passenger Buses and everything in between.

The many benefits of leasing versus buying include: lower maintenance costs, tax savings, and always having a newer model bus to name a few. All of our 15 Passenger Activity buses meet FMVSS and have dual rear wheels. We can deliver to any destination in the southeast for a nominal fee (all misbo members are included in our service area).
