Exciting New Ministries from the BFM
Volunteers Welcome!

The National Blessed Family Ministry is excited to announce the development of a number of ministries to support individuals and families across the country, and the establishment of several new ones. We will begin featuring a "Ministry of the Month" in each issue of "Heartbeat," to inform you about the purpose, function, and support available from each ministry. Some of these are grassroots efforts supported by the Blessed Family Association (at www.blessedfamilies.org), while others are initiatives of the national Blessed Family Ministry. To learn more about each one, visit www.familyfed.org/bfd, and select one from the "Ministries" drop-down menu near the top-left.

In order for these programs to develop more fully and effectively, we are looking for volunteers who feel called to spend even a little time helping to plan and develop them. If any of these ministries interests or inspires you,as a participant, volunteer, or both, please contact them, or write to us at ministries@unification.org

Ø Counseling Ministry- here you will find contact information for our national counseling ministry, guided by Mrs. Debby Gullery, and the profiles and contact info for several professional Unificationist counselors. You will also find a link to a list of 350 family-friendly, commitment oriented marriage counselors around the country.

Documentary series seeking families considering Family

Directed Biblical Betrothal or Courtship

Are you or a loved one about to enter into preparations for matching or Blessing?  Do you know a parent who is in the process of helping his children find their husband or wife?

We are currently in the process of working with a documentary series about Family-Directed Biblical Betrothals. The series will follow young couples as they enter this important life transition. As seasoned and respectful documentarians, their aim is to accurately document this unique way of life and showcase the virtues and moral ideologies behind these practices. This is a wonderful opportunity to spread the word about preserving marriage to a large audience, and a great opportunity to convey the depth and meaning of our matching and Blessing tradition.
If you or someone you know would be interested in this type of opportunity, please send us a brief summary about yourself, your contact information and a photo. Also, please feel free to pass this information along to anyone you may think would like to learn more about this project.

We need your help. A finders fee is available for leads to any
families you direct us to that are featured in the documentary series. All families featured in the documentary series will also receive a participation fee.

Divorce
If you have reached an impasse in your marriage-saving efforts, you will want to read this three-part series because it will help you diagnose the reasons you might be stuck. Don't despair if things aren't going smoothly, just make sure you read this and your next two newsletters!

So, why haven't you seen change in your marriage yet? Let's take a look at a few possible reasons.

You Haven't Given a Method Sufficient Time to Work Before Trying Something Else

It is often the case that, if a technique doesn't yield immediate results, people jump ship too quickly. Although this is completely understandable, it's unproductive.  It's my experience that you should probably stick with something for at least a couple of weeks unless it is clear that you are getting negative results.   Then, of course, you should quit immediately.  But don't let your impatient get in the way of your being systematic about improving your marriage.  You need to give things a chance to work.

This is especially true if you and your spouse are separated and you don't have much contact.  In that case, even if the method you're using is going to be effective, it will definitely take longer to show positive results than it would if the two of you were together.  Your spouse simply doesn't have enough opportunities to witness you changing.  So, don't get discouraged and start trying a little of this and a little of that.  If you do, you won't really get a true reading about the effectiveness of any technique.

To facilitate and support national counseling needs and requests, the National BFM has developed a new counseling network consisting of trained and professional Unificationists. They will offer free consultations with potential clients to determine needs and compatability and they can be contacted directly by visiting the Counseling Network Site on our website. Each of them are hoping to contribute their expertise and skill to our movement as we all continue to walk our unique and personal paths to healing and growth.

WHAT'S COMING UP...

WFWP-WE

Learn to invigorate, mature, empower, solidify the many relationships that intertwine with your life, and world around you. Our theme this year is taking us into the realm of relationships, knowing that women play a central role and possess the key to unlock the power of healthy and happy relations, first and foremost in the family, community, society, nation and the world. There is obviously still much pain in our own lives and in our relationships that beg to be addressed and healed; there is society's degrading view of women, our own self image, dysfunction in our own families, the way we even treat each other, and many other blocks to deal with. Therefore we feel it is worth while to take some time out and discover, uncover and learn more about ways to get through those challenges. What can WE do this year? The real question is "What can't we do?" The assembly begins on Thursday, August 4 at 6pm and ends on Saturday, August 6 at noon. Find out more information about the conference schedule, evening gala, special coupons and discounts to shows, tours. For early registration, visit www.wfwp.us.
