 The Best Joke
Our new show "Pigs in a Canoe and other watery stories, songs, poems, facts and more", asks a child to "save the day" by telling their best joke.
Kids telling jokes is always hilarious - most often it's funnier than the joke itself.
For your enjoyment here's what we've heard so far:
What do cats put in their drinks? Mice cubes!
Why did the chicken cross the playground - to get to the other slide!
And... wait for it...
What do you put in a watermelon sandwich? Frogs!

I came across a quote the other day... seems to put things in perspective:
"...Confound him too, who in this place set up a sundial, to cut and hack my days so wretchedly into small portions..."
Titus Maccius Plautus (c. 254-184 BC)
I appreciate your time spent reading our brief newsletter and your interest in the activities of the people and puppets at WP Puppet Theatre!
Best, Wendy Passmore-Godfrey Artistic Director

Volunteer in Profile - Teresa Ryan.
Every month CTV partners up with Volunteer Calgary to bring stories about outstanding volunteers. For December 2011, WP Puppet Theatre nominated Teresa Ryan
We wanted to recognize Teresa's contributions on our Board of Directors as well as her work on our Puppets on the Go program. Teresa designed and sewed the wonderful costumes for both the rod and the Bunraku puppet crates. With her teaching experience she also helped to research and write the booklets for the crate program. As well Teresa occasionally teaches one of our facilitated workshops.
Teresa is being recognized for her talent, and her "why not try it", and "can do" attitude!

Did you know?
Our Puppets on the Go crate based outreach program is available for teachers to RENT! Crates come with ready to go curriculum linked lesson plans, ready-made puppets, supplies to make your own puppets and lots of fun activities.
One of the crates we offer is:
"Rod Puppets look into Alberta History". In this crate we feature a sample script and the puppets to tell the story of Hatfield the Rainmaker.
Here's a little quiz from the Hatfield story to test your history knowledge!
In 1921 drought stricken farmers in Medicine Hat made a deal with Charles M. Hatfield, of Los Angeles, to produce 4 inches of rain. How much did they pay him? a) $8,000 b) $600 c) $20,000

For information on our other crates see: http://www.wppuppet.com/puppets_on_the_go.htm
(They paid him $8,000. At that time a loaf of bread was 10 cents, a pound of water melon was 2 cents and a car could be purchased for $250!)
