WPTS Casino Dates Have been drawn!

Tuesday April 10th and Wednesday April 11th 2012 Deerfoot Casino, Calgary SE

Shifts: 10:30 am - 7:00 pm OR
6:30 pm - 2:00 am OR 10:00 pm - 2:00 am

We are required to provide 40 volunteers to work behind the scenes at the casino. The organization in return receives a sum of money that makes up a substantial part of our operating budget.
For example between January and June of 2010-11 with the assistance of casino funds*, we presented over eighty crate bookings, workshops, or performances, with over 5700 children and adults. This includes our chilly February 10- show tour of Finding My Song to rural Alberta venues and our week at the Calgary International Children's' Festival with our Shadow Fun program!

Please help us! It is an easy volunteer job with on site training, a chance to meet new people; you'll get free food and a small 'thank you' gift and the satisfaction of

supporting WP Puppet Theatre's work with children and the arts - last time we raised over $50,000 in two days!

Note:
Casinos are Non Smoking and Taxi's can be provided.

OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The following positions are all supporting our exciting Puppet Power 2013 conference entitled "The Fearless Face of Puppets" taking place in Spring 2013 in Calgary. The conference committee is looking for creative individuals who are detail oriented, organized and committed to the job. Great opportunities for every type of volunteer skillset!

  • Coordinators would work with the conference chair and staff and have access to WP Puppet Theatre resources, databases and experience.
  • Estimated time commitment is 3 hours per week, increasing no doubt, as the event date nears.
  • Work can be done at home.
  • All positions start when they are filled.
  • Additionally coordinators would attend and report at monthly committee meetings
  • Please contact us for more detailed information wppuppet@telus.net or 403 228 3373

Logistics Coordinator

This coordinator would work with the conference chair to develop a timeline and needs list for the conference. They would then oversee the conference logistics, ensuring that deadlines aren't missed, and facilitate practical aspects such as venue booking, food delivery and tech needs. They may also get involved in some communications and publicity. Event planning experience would be an asset.

Puppet Arts Faire Coordinator:
The coordinator would be in charge of inviting and organizing display artists, assembling supplies and tools, and recruiting workshop leaders. They would also have a chance to define and plan the details for this event.

Puppet Hands On and Master Class Coordinator
The coordinator would be in charge of liaison with session leaders to ensure the required supplies, equipment, room set up, photocopying, evaluations and introductions are in place for the workshops. They would also offer and facilitate additional tourist activities for Calgary and Banff if the out of town speakers wish.

PIG NAMES
Our new show "Pigs in a Canoe" features six pigs - so far nameless. But with your help we can put some names on these faces. Send us your name ideas!
