Join our Board of Directors!

Our board is a grass-roots, friendly and fun group of people. We mainly serve an advisory role with fun opportunities for hands on work. You can decide what area you would like to focus on - programming, marketing or governance. In this way you choose what is the most beneficial experience for yourself. We meet about every two months.

Contact Wendy or Erin for more information at wppuppet@telus.net

Psst!  Puppet Friends!

Did you know that one of the puppets has got hold of our WPTS Twitter log in password and is making posts from inside his/her crate. It's a mystery. He/she signs off with just BBJ!

I really must look into that puppet storage area someday... Meanwhile, lets have some summer fun. '

WP PUPPET THEATRE
LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE

As many of you know, at W.P. Puppet Theatre Society we like to bring the theatre and arts experience to you-whether that is in the classroom, the office, or perhaps your community centre.

With this in mind, we know that the best way to find us is online, and so we have redesigned our website to engage and entertain our audience, just as we would in person!

With bright new colours and fun characters, our new website reflects the vibrancy and passion we bring to all our endeavors. By visiting  www.wppuppet.com you can learn about our newest production, Finding My Song: By Bird; our crate-based outreach program, Puppets On the Go; or learn how to book our Artistic Director, Wendy Passmore-Godfrey, for an artist residency or workshop.

Make sure to also check out the About Us About Us page and take a look at our new vision and mission. Over the last couple of years, we have been working hard to reinvigorate and find inspiration in the work we do in the community and we believe our new website is just the beginning of many new things to come for W.P. Puppet Theatre!

June...

was (unofficially) Think about Sponsorship month as Calgary Arts Development launched artsVest and we launched our minds in this direction.

To support our search for community investment partners 'who love puppets' we have prepared a "Tall Building Elevator Statement". (or a Lengthy Distance Taxi Ride Statement) Keep your eye out for copies in your local elevator!

WP Puppet Theatre was the dream of two little girls who 'played puppets' in the attic, with popsicle sticks and cereal boxes, producing epics such as "Hood the Horrible".

Subsequently we were incorporated in 1991 as a not for profit, charitable society. We still make 'puppet shows', touring in Canada and overseas. We also present workshops and professional development  - last year for over 5000 people.

Wendy, our Artistic Director was one of those child founders. And we love telling that story as it shows what can happen if you work really hard and believe.  Believe, think big thoughts, use your imagination... this is what we want to impart to our young audiences.

Our twenty-year success illustrates the power of puppetry and the power of our volunteers, creative collaborators and our funding supporters. I'd like to tell you more about our Puppets on the Go, or our Puppet Power conference or our new show Finding My Song: By Bird:

When shall we meet again?

War Horse

War Horse features two life sized horse puppets - each brought to life by three human puppeteers working in and around the puppet itself. Through their combined movements, the horses come to life. Flanks quiver, hoofs paw the floor, and tails shake - movements so real that you'll forget that you're not watching real horses on the stage. The sculptural quality of the horses themselves is evident and beautiful as the puppeteers bring them to life.
