The 2012 Annual Appeal: Evoking Our Covenant with God
Bishop Provenzano's eloquent evocation of our covenant with God in his introduction to the 2012 Annual Appeal has led to a remarkable and inspiring response. The annual appeal is once again an outpouring of love and confidence, and its support of Diocesan ministries is only the beginning.
Most of our parishes took part in Commitment Sunday on March 4th - and parishes that utilized the appeal's "In-Pew" process have already begun to exceed their goals. Under Parish Returns policy they'll get back not only 25% of the money they raise, but 50% of money raised above their goals - an unprecedented boon for parish-based, parish-directed ministries.
Other parishes will soon be joining in, finding their own opportunities and ways to participate; some, like the vacationers' congregations on the East End, will begin their drives with the onset of the summer season.
Keep watching all of the channels of Diocesan communications - The Dominion, the e-newsletter Today in the Diocese of Long Island, our Facebook page - for continuing news of the 2012 Annual Appeal. And if you have not yet had your an opportunity to take part in the great work of the appeal, you can do so through your parish or through the Annual Appeal web page. As always, if you have any questions or need any help for yourself or for your parish, call the Office of Resource Development and Stewardship at (516) 248-4800, Ext. 23.
