Diocese Reorganizes Finance and Administrative Staff

The Rt. Rev. Lawrence C. Provenzano, Bishop of the Diocese of Long Island, announces today the reorganization of the Finance and Administrative staff of the diocese. This decision is part of the on-going efforts of the diocese to focus more resources on mission, and particularly mission on the local level.

The position of Deputy for Finance and Administration was eliminated in the restructuring. Diocesan Financial Services will continue to be led by Mr. Peter Robey, Accounting Manager and his accounting team, Mrs. Nancy Signore who oversees benefits, pension and personnel and Mrs. Frances Monaco who coordinates parochial reporting, audits, and real property administration. In conjunction with his role as librarian at the Mercer School of Theology, Mr. Charles Egleston will serve as Diocesan Archivist and Registrar and The Rev. David Sibley, new to the staff, will serve part-time as the Administrative Coordinator for Diocesan Convention and Diocesan Council. Fr. Sibley will continue to minister as Priest-in-Charge at St. John's in Fort Hamilton.

Canon Louise Baietto concluded her ministry on February 27, 2012 as a result of this reorganization. Canon Baietto came to the diocese in 1990 having previously worked for the Ford Foundation and other non-for-profit organizations. She faithfully served the Diocese of Long Island for twenty-two years. We are deeply grateful to Canon Baietto for her service and pray for God's grace in her life and ministry in the Body of Christ.

ecliUnited in Ministry: 2012 Episcopal Charities Annual Appeal Begins with Commitment Sunday, March 4th

With the theme "United in Ministry" the Episcopal Charities Annual Appeal begins in earnest on Sunday, March 4th.

Last year's response to the Episcopal Charities Annual Appeal was tremendous, almost unprecedented, with gifts both small and large donated by parishioners throughout the Diocese. And again this year our goal is to give every member of the Diocese the opportunity to take part in the charitable work that the Diocese carries out, both through direct ministries and through grants to parishes creating their own local programs.

And remember that - also again this year - the Parish Returns system means that 25% of the money collected in your parish, up to the amount of parish's Annual Appeal goal, is returned to your parish to use as you see fit in creating local ministries. And once your parish has reached its goal, 50% of every additional dollar comes back to the parish!

So, when you are asked at services on March 4th and March 11th to make your commitment to the 2012 Episcopal Charities Annual Appeal, you will be in good company - everyone throughout the Diocese of Long Island will be contemplating, along with you, the words of Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians: "And now abideth faith, hope and charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity."
