Happy Cyril & Methodius Day! (aka Valentine's Day)
Today as we focus on matters of the heart. I invite you to prayerful open your heart and mind in order that the love of Christ be made manifest in your daily life in a way that transforms the lives of those around you.
In the spirit and teaching of Charles de Foucauld and the religious order that he founded, the Little Brothers of Jesus, we discover that our own failure to love destroys faith and the necessity of love in our lives is formational to our faith. For the love of God in Jesus Christ must flow through us and to us in order for faith to be real. So in the simple gestures of affection we share are found the substance of our life in Christ, and with each other a building up of the Body of Christ that sustains us and makes us fully alive.
Have a good & blessed day! +LCP

A Community Ministry Survey Deadline Feb. 22nd
In Dieter T. Hessel's Preface to his book Social Ministry, he states:All church members share one common ministry, which is social in all of its aspects. Thus there is no question as to whether the church will be involved in social ministry; the only questions are why and how. As the social crisis deepens, will congregations retreat from troubling events into quiet sanctuaries, or will they become proactive communities of shalom?
The following survey is a first start at shining a light on the ways that our congregations already live as "communities of shalom", and an aid in our moving forward together in our diocesan community as proactive agents of change and help in our local communities.
Please take a few minutes to reflect on these questions in this survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ECSLI and answer them, identifying your parish affiliation. We ask that you complete the survey by Ash Wednesday, February 22. Thank you in advance for your help and assistance. We will share the results with the diocese by Easter. If you have any questions or issues with accessing the on-line survey please contact us at 516-248-4800 ext. 15 or email us at wratuchny45@ecslongisland.net
