United in Ministry!
Announcing the 2012 Episcopal Charities Annual AppealAnnual Appeal 2012

Because of You...2011 was an exciting year here in God's Dominion in the Sea. More than 2,500 of us, from 90 parishes, participated in the 2011 Annual Appeal - a 300% increase over the previous year. Donations and pledges now exceed our $600,000 goal - an almost five-fold increase!

Because of you...Episcopal Charities has resumed its historical mandate to fund ministries that will enrich us all while fulfilling the mission of the Diocese of Long Island.
    *    Investing in faith formation of our children, teens and young adults
through substantial renewal at Camp DeWolfe
    *    Supporting parish ministries at St. George's Bedford Stuyvesant,
Grace Church Jamaica, St. Mark's North Bellmore, St. Joseph's
Queens Village, St. Thomas Bushwick and more
    *    Supporting Episcopal Community Services housing for people with
        AIDS on Long Island...

...and all this is just the beginning! The new Legacy Guardians Society acknowledges those who came before us while ensuring the Diocesan mission and ministries will live long after us. Faith, hope and charity are wonderfully alive, with Episcopal Charities once again helping parishes, programs and people throughout the Diocese:
    *    Parish Returns - parishes share 25%-50% of the funds they raise
        through the Annual Appeal
    *    Archdeaconry and Church-Based Grants to parishes and programs
to begin or maintain community and social ministries
    *    Workshops and grants to establish Jubilee Ministries
    *    Stewardship workshops in grant writing, and soon in strategic plan
        development for parishes

Our goal this year is that even more of God's people get to participate in this great outpouring of the spirit of the Diocese of Long Island. On February 26, watch and listen for ways that you can join in - and what your generosity will mean for you, your parish, our Diocese, and the tens of thousands of vulnerable souls whose lives will be changed forever by Diocesan ministries this year.

Remember, all administrative and fund-raising costs of Episcopal Charities are underwritten by endowment, so that EVERY PENNY THAT YOU DONATE GOES DIRECTLY TO SERVING THOSE IN NEED!

Rebuild Our Church in Haiti
Assistance from the Diocese of Long Island to the Diocese of Haiti

Together with dioceses across the church, we in Long Island are working to rebuild the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Port-au-Prince and to repair churches, schools, and clinics damaged or destroyed in the devastating earthquake of January 2010.  Though other places and peoples have suffered major disasters in the ensuing months, the people of Haiti continue to need our active assistance in recovering from those few minutes of loss.

Visit  the Diocese of Long Island Rebuild Our Church page to find resources helpful to parish clergy, staffs, and interested parishioners in raising funds for this purpose.  Each parish should have received a packet of information in the US mail during the week following Convention 2011.  Your support will be deeply appreciated.  Funds for Haiti will be gathered on World Mission Sunday, 2012.
