Library Relocation to Mt. View Commons

In May, 2012 phase 2 of the Library Expansion and Improvement Project will begin with the Carnegie portion of the library undergoing a seismic retrofit. Resources are in hand for this phase, with a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and City of Port Townsend matching funds. Phase 2 will involve work on the foundation, walls, and roof of the Carnegie Building.

  • Library operations have been relocated to two locations within the Mt. View Commons complex. The main library, housing all adult, YA, reference, periodicals and media collections is located in the old cafeteria space underneath the gym, next to the swimming pool. 10 public computers and 1 printer are available.
  • Children's collections are located inside a classroom in the Mt. View Commons building, across the hall from the PT Police station office.
  • The library will be relocated through 2012.
  • Book returns are available at the Mt. View location, QFC and at the Carnegie library on Lawrence Street.
  • Please bring all donated materials for the Friends of Library's tri-annual booksales to the Carnegie Library on Lawrence Street. Boxes can be left at the front entrance.
  • Click here for a map of the new locations.

Blank Confession was based on the book Shane by Jack Schaefer, which also was made into a movie. Nominated for six Academy Awards, the film won "Best Cinematography" in 1954. "It's the western styled as Arthurian legend, flawlessly cast, undeniably splendid," reports TV Guide. Eat pizza and watch the movie with author Pete Hautman and local filmmaker Andrew Burke.
