A Team Effort Produces a Unique Product

Custom Components Company, architect Jodie Dodson (The DodStone Group Architects), Mad Dog Construction and Point Glass & Metal recently teamed up to develop a unique product for the Florida Commerce Credit Union in Tallahassee, FL.FCCU Canopy  The project started as a conversation between Jodie and Jim Ellsworth, co-owner of Custom Components Company, at the AIA Show in Miami.  Jim and Jodie sketched out the basics at the show.  Formal drawings followed that resulted in a custom design to retrofit an historical building.  The resulting canopy has 84" outriggers with frosted laminated glass and tension rods.  Mad Dog Construction coordinated the project and Point Glass & Metal did the install.  The installer said, "It was the best engineered and fabricated canopy he has ever installed."

Annalisa Warner of Mad Dog Construction said:

" Mad Dog Construction works with many private clients that are constructing one-of-a-kind buildings and designs.  The architect for Florida Commerce Credit Union (FCCU) developed a concept incorporating FCCU's unique identity.  The canopy conceived for the exterior facade of this downtown location had to meet strict requirements for the City of Tallahassee, and yet define the client's image.  The architect was able to relay this information to Custom Components, and in turn, they were able to deliver a product of unquestionable quality, that met all the expectations of our client."

Well done, team!

Economy Passes GDP Milestone

The Washington Times (1/31,Hill) reports the economy "turned an important corner at the end of last year, recouping all the ground lost during the Great Recession and expanding into record territory."  The gross domestic product "reached $13.38 trillion in the fourth quarter of 2010, surpassing the peak set three years ago just before the economy sank into recession in the final quarter of 2007, according to a Commerce Department report released Friday."  While economists "generally emphasize job creation - and by that measure, the economy still falls short - the milestone passed at the end of last year signaled that the recovery has gained its footing".
