Teacher of the Year Ehrenfeld
Challenges Universities to 'Reinvent'
David Ehrenfeld has been a steady force in the Rutgers classroom for 38 years. Winner of the Barbara Goff Teacher of the Year Award in 2011, he teaches four very popular courses every year in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Natural Resources and is known for his rapport with his students. One of the most frequent comments in his evaluations is: "He changed my life."
He also is outspoken about the role of universities in a world totally different than that of a generation ago. He will share his thoughts - and provoke thoughts of your own - in the spring Executive Dean's Distinguished Lecture: "Reinventing the University for the 21st Century." This lecture and reception will take place beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, in the Cook Campus Center, 59 Biel Rd., New Brunswick, NJ. Registration is strongly suggested.
Please see further details about this talk and about Professor Ehrenfeld by visiting the Discovery Initiative website at www.discovery.rutgers.edu.

Volunteer Opportunity
Rutgers Cooperative Extension partners with various agencies to provide nutrition education to low income adults, seniors and youth enrolled in the New Jersey Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly called "food stamps"). A network of volunteers, working with Rutgers faculty and staff, teach individuals how to select and eat healthier foods, cook and store foods safely, create a food budget, and related skills. They also participate in food fairs and community events. If you have a desire to teach and to volunteer, visit the website of the SNAP-Ed program at www.njsnap-ed.org. |
