Company Spotlight: Ruckus Media Group
| |
Ruckus Media Group introduces traditional storytelling for today's ways of telling stories by creating applications for mobile devices that entertain toddlers to teens from their fingers to their minds, at home or on the road-and invite their imaginations to grow.
Launched in September 2010; its first Read-Play-and Record along titles were with narrations by Meryl Streep, Robin Williams, Denzel Washington, and John Cleese to name a few. Ruckus Media Group is now home to nineteen (19) children's animated storybooks available on iTunes. CEO Rick Richter says, "Ruckus is about teaching kids to read with brands they want and devices they want to be on. They can carry vast libraries in their pockets. So, I guess I could argue that if we seize the moment, we are about to enter a golden-age of storytelling."
Ruckus Media Group secured $3.5 million series A funding in March 2011 and announced a children's transmedia publishing imprint with the largest publisher and distributor of children's books, Scholastic, Inc. With strong publishing, licensing, and children's property experience: Ruckus CEO Rick Richter hails from Simon & Schuster, COO Jim Young from Harper Collins, Chief Content Officer Jason Root from Nickelodeon, and Business Development Director Lynn Smith from Scholastic. With offices in Wilton CT and New York City, Ruckus has a staff of thirty (30). Top-selling titles include the #1 bestselling iTunes book app, MY LITTLE PONY: TWILIGHT SPARKLE, TEACHER FOR A DAY, Parent's Choice Recommended Award winners CHUCK & FRIENDS FOR THE LONG HAUL, based on the popular Hasbro toy characters, and SPOT THE DOT by multi-million copy bestselling pop-up legend David A. Carter; About.com's Reader's Choice Award Winner and Best App Finalist A PRESENT FOR MILO, written and illustrated by Mike Austin; as well as THE VELVETEEN RABBIT: TOLD BY MERYL STREEP and other Read-Play-Record-Along classic animated storybook apps. Publisher: Mae Day Publishing
"As he approached, I heard the flapping of wings, like an overgrown eagle. The sound dissolved when he landed at the edge of the open window. A rush of wind flew past me and extinguished the flames in the fireplace. Stars glimmered behind him but his body was encircled in black."
When Psyche receives a prophecy gone horribly wrong, she learns that even the most beautiful girl in Greece can have a hideous future. Her fate? Fall in love with the one creature even the gods fear.
As she feels herself slipping closer into the arms of the prophecy, Psyche must choose between the terrifyingly tender touch she feels almost powerless to resist and the one constant she's come to expect out of life: you cannot escape what is destined.
