Making Friends at Camp
 .
It can be difficult and intimidating to make new friends at a camp where you don't know anyone.  Some tips that might make this easier  are :
  • Try being friendly and ask what their name is.
  • Introduce yourself
  • Give them a compliment
  • If they give you a compliment, say thanks and smile
  • Ask them if they want want to play with you
  • Laugh at their jokes even if they are lame!
  • If they start a conversation with you, act interested
And remember, everyone is in the same boat, meeting new people, feeling shy and nervous and wanting to have fun and make friends :)

David Hansburg, from Rocky Mountain Day Camp in Superior, Colorado was interviewed by some camper about his advice for making friends:
David's advice:
  • Try to learn everyone's name as soon as possible, then ask them about themselves
  • Lunchtime is always a good time to make new friends
  • Always try to be nice and share stuff about yourself, you might have more in common than you think

So David, why do you love camp?

I love all the great counselors, great campers and watching them all have fun.

David, what is your favorite activity at camp?

Color war at RMDC, because all the camper get so enthusiastic. The camp splits into two groups and compete against each other.  Everyone has such a great time.

Have you ever heard of the Wild Animal Sanctuary?  Well, the wild animal sanctuary is a great place where people have rescued animals like tigers, bobcats, mountain lions, bears, and many more. The sanctuary is kid friendly and if you go around 6pm, you can see the wolves howling. Plus, the volunteers are very kind and knowledgeable. At the gift shop you can adopt some of the animals to help pay for their food  and care. I'd have to say my favorite part was seeing the panthers up so close up.  If you haven't visited the sanctuary yet, you are in for a treat!  Pack a lunch and spend the day with your family, you won't be disappointed.  For more information check out:

Pet of the Month

Hello everyone:  Hope you're having a good summer. For this month,  we are having two contests. What we want you to do for this contest is send us a picture of the funniest/ cutest photo of your pet. Here's how we are going to do it:
  • We will select one pet every month as the grand prize winner
  • One person will win a $15.00 gift certificate
Here are the rules:
  • Send your picture with a description to mramunda777@yahoo.com
  • Make sure it is ok with your parents
  • We need a brief description of what makes your pet special:  for example, does your pet do special tricks, why does he make you feel good?
  • But don't be sad if your picture doesn't get picked, because we will be doing contests every month and remember there is another in August!

And the winner for this month is:
Duke

duke pawDuke is an adorable, 2 year old pit-bull/ pointer mix, who loves hiking, playing with his friends and relaxing at Starbucks. Duke loves kids and kisses on command!!!

Duke was rescued from a shelter in Arizona and was considered unadoptable.  With training, patience and love, Duke was adopted, and lives with his brother Tyler, frolicking in the fields.   His owner Dan has volunteered  his exptertise in dog behavior at various animal shelters fosterting dogs to prepare them for adoption.  For more information on behavior and training for your canine, contact Dan @ :
