The Creation of the National Park Service

On August 25th, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson and congress established the National Park Service through the Organic Act.  The bill stated that it was the National Park Service's responsibility to preserve natural and historic areas for future generations. 2012 marks the 96th anniversary of the National Park Service.
