Eastern National

Greetings!

Independence Day is rapidly approaching and you may be wondering what else there is to do besides seeing a fireworks show. Many of America's national parks will be hosting Independence Day celebrations.  In fact, most parks have events planned throughout the summer months!

Did you know...?

American Documents Flag

The Continental Congress voted for independence from the British on July 2, 1776.  John Adams believed that the second of July should have been the date of the federal holiday.

The fourth of July has been recognized as our national holiday since it is the date that the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress in Philadelphia.  The Fourth of July officially became a federal holiday in 1870.
