Commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War
Greetings!

On April 12, 1861, the first shots of the American Civil War rang out.  Confederate forces battled into April 13, forcing the Union-held Fort Sumter to surrender.  Thus began the bloodiest war in United States' history.  A war that, after 150 years, remains in the hearts and minds of many Americans.

Over the next four years, the National Park Service will be commemorating this historic event.  There are various museum exhibits and special events available in rememberance of the War Between the States.  Below, you'll find commemorative anniversary products.

 CWS Ft Sumter

Part of the National Park Civil War Series. "The Union is Dissolved" screamed the headline of the Charleston Mercury, announcing that South Carolina had passed an ordinance of secession. This would start the dominoes to fall leading to civil war between the North and South. Fort Sumter, situated in the heart of Charleston Harbor, was the starting point of the conflict. It protected the important coastal post and city of Charleston. After constant bombardment, sections of the fort were reduced to rubble. It would take years to reconstruct the fort and many more years to piece the nation back together.
