RESTORE Act

Last week, Congress passed the historic RESTORE act.   This is an enormous victory for Louisiana and the five Gulf Coast state affected by the oil spill. The act requires that 80% of the BP oil spill penalty money be used for the five Gulf Coast states impacted (Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida). The $4 to $16 billion dollars will be allocated through three basic avenues. Some funds go directly to the states. Some to Federal agencies who determine projects. Some funds are allocated to projects through a formula based on the magnitude of impact of the oil spill. In general, the money is intended for use for coastal restoration and flood protection. There are more general provisions for economic development. LPBF considers that the impacts of the oil spill must be addressed regardless, and that much of the restoration in the State Master Plan is a priority.

LPBF congratulates our Federal delegation who worked tirelessly to have this passed.

Thank You!!

LPBF's 23rd Annual Back to the Beach Festival and Patron Party has come and gone and we want to thank everyone who helped to make this year's events successful! The support we receive from our sponsors, donors, friends and volunteers makes our Back to the Beach Festival and Patron Party such great events year after year. Also, the invaluable partnerships we share with the Car Show and the Run/Walk add such a fun element and increases the festival's appeal even more! These events raise much needed dollars for LPBF and our many crucial programs so we are truly grateful for the generous support we receive from so many!

This year, the weather during the Festival really cooperated! We had blue skies and nice summer breezes off the Lake. The crowd was great and everyone seemed to have fun. And, as always, our Patron Party was a hit with lots of great food, drinks, music and dancing!

Once again, THANKS for your continued dedication and support of LPBF and the important work we do for our Lake and Coast!
