Lighthouse Reconstruction Undtest pileerway

We are moving toward reconstruction of the New Canal Lighthouse! We have started the initial steps of the rebuilding process. Permits have been applied for with the City. A test pile was driven a few weeks ago on the site and the test results came back great.

Let the rebuilding begin!

Manatees Sighted in Lake
manatee

A manatee was sighted in Lake Pontchartrain just east of Fontainebleau State Park grazing in the grassbeds on August 20th and by Northshore Beach on Aug 25.

The endangered manatee, also known as the sea cow, grazes on the submerged aquatic vegetation in the shallow waters of Lake Pontchartrain.   Boaters in Lake Pontchartrain beware of the large sea cows.  There is a concern for collisions with the manatees, and they can be hurt by the propellers of fast-moving boats.  Seeing a manatee in Lake Pontchartrain is a lucky and exciting sight, but please view it at a distance and leave it alone.
