LPBF Plants Cypress Trees on Growing Land
When LPBF scientists visited the Big Mar Lagoon near the outfall of the Caernarvan Freshwater Diversion this fall, land was beginning to appear. This land is a new Caernarvon Delta forming from the diversion of Mississippi River sediment into the marsh. To help sustain this area LPBF staff, volunteers and partner agencies planted 200 cypress trees. The trees will add to our multiple lines of defense that protect our coastline. More cypress will be brought in during the early spring.
Have a safe and happy holiday season!
