IPFW Access to Elsevier Collection

The IPFW community has been included in a major contract for research resources negotiated by Purdue University Libraries. Purdue trustees have agreed to a five-year, $13.5 million deal with Elsevier, one of the world's largest journal publishers, to provide full-text access to over 1,500 scholarly journals in the social sciences, sciences, technology, and medicine.

Included in the contract is a subscription to Scopus, the largest abstract and citation database of research literature in all fields including the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities. Scopus covers over 19,000 titles from more than 5,000 international publishers.

This is the first time IPFW has been included as part of the Purdue University library system, and the collaboration significantly increases the research resources available to IPFW's academic community. Citizens of northeast Indiana can also access these resources from public workstations located in the Helmke Library.

For more information about journals included in the Elsevier Freedom Collection and Scopus search capabilities, contact ref@ipfw.edu or 481-6505.

New Bicycle Parking Areas

Several new bicycle parking areas are being constructed on campus for use starting fall semester. Formal bicycle parking areas adjacent to Kettler, ETCS, Liberal Arts, Walb Union, the Athletics Center Fieldhouse, and Williams Theatre will give students and staff commuters secure locations for their bicycles. The parking areas will be on concrete pads with steel hoops and are expected to be completed the first week of classes.

Parking Garage 3 Closure Reminder

Parking Garage 3 will be closed next week, August 13--16, for safety upgrades. The garage will reopen on Friday, August 17. Please park in adjacent lots during this time.
