Carwein Returns to Hoosier Roots

CarweinVicky L. Carwein was announced as IPFW's new chancellor yesterday, June 19. Carwein will be IPFW's ninth chancellor.

Carwein was born and raised in Gwynnville in Shelby County, and said coming to IPFW is, in a sense, returning to her roots. "This is just an incredible opportunity. I was so impressed with the passion and dedication of the search committee. They were very inspiring in passing along the commitment of the campus and the community in building on the successes that IPFW has experienced in its past, and I am very excited to be a part of its future."

Carwein is currently the chancellor at Washington State University Tri-Cities in Richland, Wash. Prior to that, she served as president at Westfield State College in Westfield, Mass., and chancellor at the University of Washington Tacoma. Read the story ...
