In Memoriam

Ronald D. Pequignot passed away Wednesday, October 12. He was the supervisor of ground maintenance at IPFW for 40 years. Ron was involved with the landscaping company that worked on the grounds during the construction of Kettler Hall. The service was Monday, October 17, at Klaehn, Fahl, and Melton Funeral Home. Faster FSA Claims Processing
Stethoscope Faster claims processing and convenient new technology are in store for employees who enroll in a 2012 healthcare or dependent care flexible spending account (FSA). Purdue has chosen PayFlex to administer FSAs beginning in January. PayFlex is one of the largest FSA processors in the country and has more than 24 years of experience.

UC� Honors Voting Rights Act
Voting Rights Act What would this country be like if Congress had not passed and President Lyndon B. Johnson had not signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965? You can learn more about that pivotal time in American history and honor the Voting Rights Act, Wednesday, October 26, and Saturday, October 29, at the next UC� programs.

Each event will begin with a 22-minute video of President Johnson's March 1965 speech in which he urges Congress to pass a voting rights bill. Following the film, there will be a panel discussion about the Act, featuring experts from the College of Arts and Sciences faculty and the community. Read the story...
Economic Outlook Luncheon
Economic Outlook Luncheon
For the fifth year, the IPFW Alumni Association and the Northeast Indiana Chapter of the IU Alumni Association are hosting the Economic Outlook Luncheon featuring a panel of experts from IU's Kelley School of Business alongside John Stafford, director of IPFW's Community Research Institute. The panel will offer national, state, and local economic forecasts for 2012.

The luncheon is November 9, 11:30 a.m.--1 p.m., in the Walb Student Union Ballroom. The cost is $30 per person or $225 for a table of eight and includes lunch. For reservations, contact Eric Steenman, vice president of the northeast Indiana chapter of the IU Alumni Association,

This Week on Discover IPFW
Discover IPFW Logo Discover IPFW airs tomorrow night, October 20, on PBS-39 at 7:30 p.m. This week Jeff Nowak, associate professor of science education, will discuss his recent trip to Kosovo, where he is helping to create a basic education program for the country. Nowak will be joined by Nicole Wilkins, a marketing specialist for IPFW's University Relations and Communications who documented their experiences.

Also on the program will be Leonard Helfrich, director of the Talent Initiative, based in northeast Indiana. The company produced a series of videos featuring IPFW's Engineering and Computer Science departments.

In the National Spotlight
Geralyn Miller, associate professor of finance, coauthored some research with the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries about the impact of choice and participation in school district-sponsored 403(b) plans. The research was featured in national publications including PlanSponsor, BenefitsPro, and the Society for Human Resource Management
