| Lyna Weaver, a former Personal and Professional Development staff member in the Division of Continuing Studies, passed away Monday, September 26. She earned a degree in General Studies and was working on a master's in Organizational Leadership and Supervision. Lyna was also very involved with the Alumni Board. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Global Alliance to Stimulate Region's Economic Development
IPFW has successfully initiated the first Global Alliance for Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (GATTE). The partnership is the first of its kind and size to be established, allowing for the stimulation of economic development in northeast Indiana through the transfer and spin-off of technology developed through Taiwan's university-based incubation centers. COAS Launches First Mondays, New Discussion and Lecture Series
The College of Arts and Sciences unveils a new discussion and lecture series, "First Mondays," October 3 at noon in Science Building, Room 186. The first lecture is by Suin Roberts, assistant professor in the Department of International Language and Culture Studies. Her topic is "Migrants in the Media: The Making of Undesired Foreigners and Model Minorities." Read the story...

John Stafford, director of IPFW's Community Research Institute, will be a panelist at the 2011 Inner City Economic Forum Summit in Chicago on October 4. The panel's topic will be "Lessons from Industrial Cities." Conversation will be moderated by Toni Griffin, Harvard Graduate School of Design. Other panelists will represent the cities of Chicago, Philadelphia, Newark, N.J., and Flint, Mich. Michael Porter, Ph.D., Harvard School of Business, will present the keynote speech.

Discount for IPFW Staff at Brickworld Fort Wayne
Brickworld Fort Wayne is being held at the Grand Wayne Center in Fort Wayne October 1--2.There will be 16,000 square feet of LEGO� displays and interactive activities. Attendees can view robotics, mosaics, sculptures, trains, construction equipment, cars, and more, all constructed of LEGO� bricks.
Hours are Saturday 10 a.m.--6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.--4 p.m.Admission is $9 for adults, $6 for children 10 and under, and free for children 3 and under.
