D. Richard "Dick" Smith, 80, died Feb. 10, 2011, at his Santa Fe, N.M., home. Smith was the Purdue dean and director at IPFW before Purdue and IU services were combined and the position of Chancellor was created.

Annual IPFW Statehouse Day is March 2  Your voice is needed to procure more state funds for IPFW. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to the 15th annual IPFW Statehouse Day March 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Everything is free:
- Motorcoach transportation to and from Indianapolis
- Lunch at the Hyatt Regency with northeast Indiana legislators
- "How to Lobby" lesson
- Information on how a bill becomes law
- Self-guided tour of the Statehouse

Run It Walk It for Chris Brown 5K

In the first three years of the Run It Walk It for Chris Brown 5k Run, sufficient funds were raised to create a permanently endowed scholarship in memory of Chris Brown, a member of the Cross Country and Track programs who lost his battle with cancer in 2007.
This year's Run/Walk is February 20 at 2 p.m. Registration begins at noon, along with food, a silent auction, and live entertainment.

"Operation Thank U" Extends Gratitude
 Student Housing is collecting thank you letters for area soldiers and veterans as part of Operation Thank U (O.T.U.). Take a minute to send your thanks to those who answer the call of duty; let them know their sacrifice is appreciated.
You may write or type a letter and take it to Cole Commons at Student Housing by Friday, Feb. 18. All letters will be given to soldiers and veterans at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System-Fort Wayne Campus. |

- PINK OUT GAME - $1 from every ticket sold will be donated to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. Everyone is encouraged to wear pink.
