IPFW Student Housing Fall Move-In Day
Move-in cartIPFW Student Housing invites all faculty and staff members to participate in Fall Move-In Day. This is a big year for Housing, as the third phase opens up with four new apartment buildings and a brand-new clubhouse. Move-In Day (Thursday, Aug. 19) is a great day for faculty and staff to meet new students, welcome back returning students, and lend a hand with the move-in process. Numerous businesses from the Fort Wayne community will also be present to join in the fun. Move-in will be from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m. Aug. 19. If you're interested in participating, even for just a little while, e-mail Paul Hahn, resident director.

Summer Youth Program
No s
hovels are needed to dig up these roots. Twenty-nine local high school students are doing some genealogical digging this month at IPFW's Summer Youth Program: Life After High School. This year's theme is "Digging Up Your Roots: Telling Your Family's Story," as participants use the resources of the Allen County Library Genealogy Center to discover their family histories. Students take weekly field trips, participate in team-building and cultural-awareness workshops, and learn about project management within the genealogy field. A compilation of the family histories will be published at the end of the four-week program. Read the news release

The program, begun in 1998, offers fun summer activities while providing guidance on opportunities after high school and an introduction to college life. IPFW and the Foellinger Foundation fund the program, which is sponsored by the Allen County Post-secondary Education Consortium consisting of IPFW, Indiana Institute of Technology, Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast, and the University of Saint Francis. For more information about the program, contact Christopher Riley.
New Employee Orientation...Special Edition
Both new and current employees are invited to attend the New Employee Orientation on Wednesday, July 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Kettler Hall, Room G46. If you were unable to attend an orientation when you first started working at the university, this is your chance. Administrators will address topics of interest such as Our Mission, the History of IPFW, Community Connections, Student and Employee Stats, Diversity, FERPA, Working at a University and Its Uniqueness, and Campus Safety. Lunch will be provided and reservations are required. RSVP no later than July 23 to Teresa Goodwin. For more information, contact Human Resources at 481-6840.
Burgers and Fries at Pizza Hut
IPFW students have voted for burgers and fries as the food items they would most like to see on campus. Pizza Hut in Walb Union has answered that call and is now offering burgers, cheeseburgers, and potato wedges.
