Fun in the Sun! Walk with IPFW in the TRF Parade

Represent IPFW in this year's Three Rivers Festival Parade, "Fun in the Sun," Saturday, July 10. Participants receive a free t-shirt! University Relations and Communications is looking for ten people (IPFW faculty, staff, or students) to hold down and steer our new giant Mastodon balloon and four people to carry banners. Contact Laurel Alberson for more information.

Visalli Awarded National Institutes of Health Grant

Robert Visalli
Robert J. Visalli, associate professor of biology, has been awarded a $220,500 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for his research project, Varicella-zoster virus DNA encapsidation proteins. He will be investigating a series of novel drug candidates that prevent infectious herpesvirus particles from forming in infected cells. The new NIH grant will provide student researchers with extensive laboratory experience in molecular virology. Read more.
Carr Named Marcus Center Fellow

Steven Carr
Steven A. Carr was named a Marcus Center Fellow by the Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives. The associate professor of communication will conduct extensive research at the American Jewish Archives in Cincinnati, Ohio during the 2010-2011 academic year. The Fellowship will require a month-long residency at the American Jewish Archives in Cincinnati.

Submit Your Best To The Rivers and Bridges of Northeast Indiana Exhibition
IPFW RiverFest LogoOne of many events at the upcoming IPFW RiverFest, The Rivers and Bridges of Northeast Indiana Exhibition will showcase the best paintings, works on paper, mixed media work, and photography in northeast Indiana that represents our rivers or bridges. Submissions are currently being accepted, and the selected artwork will be exhibited at the festival on June 26. There will be a $250 award for Best in Show, $150 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd.

Bike to IPFW This Friday

As part of National Bike to Work Day, IPFW Health and Wellness will celebrate bicyclists in front of the Helmke Library from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, May 21. Showers for riders will be available at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center.
