Dear friends,

Since our founding in 1952, we have been surrounded and supported by a faithful group of Associates -----   dedicated people who live all over the world, yet are very near to our hearts.

This month we are celebrating the recent efforts of our Associates in Athens, Ohio to help us with our capital campaign. Read the details and check out the photos below. And perhaps more of our Associates will join the effort to help us realize our big vision for Bluestone Farm at Melrose! (If you're not already an Associate but are interested in being connected with us in this special way, contact Sr. Leslie for more information.)

The Athens Associates have set a high bar -----   the challenge is on!

The Community of the Holy Spirit
Spotlight on Associates

Eleven years ago I began visiting the Church of the Good Shepherd in Athens, Ohio. It started out as a vestry workshop and over time I've done some quiet days, preached and have been meeting with people several times a year for spiritual direction.  During these eleven years we have received twenty-two Associates.

These Associates have come together with other friends at the Church of the Good Shepherd and held two events this summer to support our capital campaign for Bluestone Farm and Living Arts Center. The first was a flea market that was held on a Saturday in July at the homes of Julie Nehls and Jean and Barry Thomas. People purchased everything from furniture, housewares, and electronics to crystal.

The second was a brunch that was held on Sunday, August 26th, after church. They offered a gourmet smorgasbord of delicious home made breakfast casseroles, juice, coffee cake, pastries, fruit and beverages.

We are so grateful to all those who helped collect items, move them, set up, staff and clean up after the flea markets and to those who prepared food, set up, cleaned up and patronized the brunch. Their spirit and generosity have raised over $1500 at these two events!

What is an "Associate"?

Associates are persons, both lay and clergy, who seek an active affiliation with the Community of the Holy Spirit. Many people are searching for ways to deepen their relationship with God. Following a Rule of Life helps women and men to focus on their prayer life, committing some part of their day to intentional prayer and/or service. Having a sense of the baptismal call to community, they wish to live it more fully and desire to be helped in this commitment by keeping in touch with the Sister for Associates.
