Dear friends,

We trust that the Holy Spirit is working in your hearts and in your lives this Pentecost Season, leading you in prayer, and to places you may never have imagined.  If you are so moved, we invite you to send us your reflections on how the Holy Spirit has been present in your lives.  If there's interest, we could create a little section in this newsletter with such reflections -- "Stories of the Holy Spirit". . .

Peace,

The Sisters of the Community of the Holy Spirit

Sister Dominica, Rest in Peace

A life of prayerFollowing a brief hospital stay, Sr. Dominica died on May 28, 2010.  She was in the 35th year of her Life Profession.

Sister Dominica possessed many talents.  She joined the Community just after completing a Ph.D. in biochemistry, and she taught for many years in the schools founded by CHS.  Her sewing skills came to good use in making habits for the Sisters, and pageant costumes for the children.

In recent years, she was lovingly cared for by the staff at the Putnam Ridge facility in Brewster, NY, where we were able to visit her regularly.  As a resident there, she faithfully kept her Rule of Life, and was much sought after when other residents and employees wished prayer support.  She will be missed.
Meet Our Summer Interns!

Kale, anyone? We are delighted to be joined by three interns this summer, Claire, Emily and Rachel

These young women will live alongside the Community at Melrose/Bluestone Farm, participate in worship and farmwork, and learn about the new cosmology as part of their spiritual development and discernment.

Claire, Emily, and Rachel have each written a short biography, describing their interests and what attracted them to the Community of the Holy Spirit.  We hope you'll enjoy getting to know them!  Read their essays here.

Their presence is a gift to the Community, and we ask you all to keep these talented young women in your prayers as they share in our life and our work this summer.

Exhibit Includes Art by Sister Claire Joy

We are happy to announce that the Episcopal Church Visual Arts (EVCA) online exhibit, "Fellowship and Communion," includes two pieces of work by Sister Claire Joy.   EVCA states that its mission is: "to encourage artists, individuals, congregations, and scholars to engage the visual arts in the spiritual life of the church. ECVA values the significance of visual imagery in spiritual formation and the development of faith, and creates programs to support those who are engaged in using the visual arts in spiritual life."  Please take a look at Sister Claire Joy's work, as well as pieces by 33 other artists.  We know you'll join us in enjoying her creative contributions!
In the Gardens Now...

June harvest: cabbage, bok choi, cauliflowerThe gardens have just burst with life in the last month, and it's hard to keep up!

We're currently harvesting strawberries, raspberries, peas (snap, shell, and snow), mixed lettuces, radishes, kohlrabi, cauliflower, cabbages, and lots of greens: kale, collard greens, chard, mustard, bok choi, tat soi, mizuna, and arugula.  Colorful, healthy, and delicious!

Over the last few weeks, we planted many tomato and pepper plants, rows and rows of beans, and a field of corn.  It has been such a beautiful and bountiful spring, and we pray that the bounty will continue this summer.  But most of all we give thanks each day for the wonder of creation.
