Summer Intern Program

Dear friends,

The Community of the Holy Spirit has been busy building . . . a new "green" convent, a new website, and a new Facebook page.  We're so excited to be entering into this world of social media, and to be able to share more of our life and our work with you--our friends, Associates, and families.

We hope that you enjoy these periodic updates from the Community, and that you'll share this newsletter and our new website with others who might be interested in our work.  Please feel free to send us an email, and let us know what you think!

Blessings,

The Sisters of the Community of the Holy Spirit

A New "Green" Convent
~architecture for our future~

Groundbreaking ceremonyHaving been called by the Holy Spirit to stand witness to the impact of human activity on our Mother Earth's climate and resources, we committed ourselves in 2008 to building a new "green" convent in New York City.  We broke ground in spring 2009, and expect the building to be completed in summer 2010.  This is an exciting development for us, but also tinged with some sadness, as we prepare to leave our home at 113th Street, where we've lived for more than 50 years. A New Website

Alongside the real-world construction that's been underway, we've also been redesigning our website, and including on it more information about our daily lives, our current work, and our personal backgrounds.  The website has photo galleries, a Community blog, and links to individual blogs and photo sites, so there's plenty to peruse.

Our Community is vibrant and on a compelling journey toward a true weaving of spirituality and sustainability.  We invite you to take a look at what we're doing, and to get in touch!  We'd love to hear from you. By the way, our website address has not changed--you can still find us at www.chssisters.org!

Summer Intern Program

Summer Intern Program
At Melrose/Bluestone Farm, we are preparing for the next growing season, ordering seeds and mapping out the gardens.  We grow a wide variety of vegetables and raise chickens, ducks, and honeybees: the produce, eggs and honey we harvest feed us and allow us to participate in the local farmers' market.

We invite young women who might be interested in an internship  with us--one which combines Daily Offices, study, spiritual direction and farmwork--to email the Reverend Suzanne Guthrie, who leads the program, and request a copy of the internship application.
