Making Peace With Time
 | Rev. Laura Horton-Ludwig

Dear UUCF Friends,
Do you ever feel like time is your enemy? Too much to do, too busy, always rushing, never enough time to sit down and just be? I've been sitting with that conundrum a lot lately, looking for guidance from that old Zen saying "Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water," and also the famous story of Mary and Martha hosting Rabbi Jesus. Do you remember? Martha's been running around getting all the work done while Mary sits calmly at the feet of the master, just listening. Martha snaps: "Aargh! Rabbi, tell Mary to give me some help around here!" Two thousand years ago feels pretty contemporary, no? This weekend our service will explore ways we can make peace with our busy lives and find spaciousness inside, no matter what's happening around us. I hope you can make time (as it were!) to be there.
Speaking of spaciousness, Mary Katherine and I encourage you all to give Saturday services a try at least once this summer. Have you ever been? If so, you know the parking is easy and the feel inside the Sanctuary is relaxed and intimate. It's the same service we have on Sundays, except the music is often a little different. Our UUCF house band plays for us twice a month - everything from jazz to folk to blues and pop - and they are fantastic. We've got plenty of room to welcome you on Saturdays, and we hope enough of you will take us up on the invitation so that we can keep making room for new visitors who come check us out on Sundays. So ... hope to see you on Saturdays!
All my best, Laura
