This Week and Weekend
UU Drum Circle, Drumming for the Spirit, Drumming for Peace. Sundays, 3-4 p.m., Sanctuary. Suggested donation: $1-$10/session. Our drum circle is led by guest percussionist, Kofi Dennis. Kofi hails from Ghana and has performed all over the DC area, including the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian, Wolf Trap and others. His engaging rhythms and storytelling will be inspiring to all. Science, Reason and Religion - Update on America's Nuclear Future. Mar. 11 after the 11:15 a.m. service. Janet Kotra, with Bob Commisso and Steve Simon. In a world confronting climate change and vulnerabilities manifested by the Fukushima Daiichi disaster, our session examines the scientific and ethical issues central to nuclear power.

Annual Giving Campaign Update. Thanks to the 100 households that have already made financial pledges for the congregational year beginning Jul. 1, 2012. That leaves 400 pledges to go to complete the campaign! Please submit your pledge as soon as possible but no later than the end of March. You can return the form you received either by mail or to the campaign table in the Commons or you can pledge online. Thank you for carefully considering what you will be able to pledge for the coming year and for promptly making your pledge. Help us wrap up a successful campaign in record time!
New UUCF Job Opening. Director of Religious Exploration (DRE). Natalie Fenimore is leaving her position as our DRE at the end of this congregational year. We're grateful for the work that Natalie has done and hope you will thank her when you have the opportunity. Visit our

Ever Wondered How UUCF Runs? Lay leadership makes it happen. Can You Host a UU for Three Days? Mar. 22-25. UUCF will be hosting the UU Christian Fellowship Revival conference and welcoming more than 100 UUs from across the country. That's where you can help! Are you able to open your home to welcome fellow UUs for two or three nights? If so, please let Rev. Laura know how many people you would like to accommodate, what nights you can offer, and any other information you'd like to share that will help us match you with guests. Thank you so much.
Remember the first person who gave you a hand up to a job? Let's pass it on! Our young adults are set to transition from education to "the real world." The kids are ready and willing to work, but jobs are limited. We can help! Members of our Congregation work in a variety of fields. Many of you know about openings in your companies or know those who know. You can provide guidance on entry level positions, resumes, practice interviews and contacts. If you are interested in receiving or providing this assistance, please contact Deborah Kennedy.
UUA Justice General Assembly. Interested in immigration, social justice and gathering with UUs from around the country? UUA Justice General Assembly in Phoenix 2012. UUCF Lending Library Now Available. UUCF has established a lending library for the benefit of its members and friends. The books, most of which were bequeathed to the Congregation by Joe Tamney, cover a wide range of religious topics. Stop by the Library (on the lower level of the Administration Building) and check out the collection. Please note, however, that the Library is not available when the OWL class is in session on Sunday mornings at 9:15. If you have any questions, contact Judy Penniman.

The Fairfax Unitarian Universalist Summer Experience (FUUSE). Attention Youth and parents of youth. FUUSE will again place high school aged interns from our Congregation with social action, educational and social service agencies in Fairfax County in the summer of 2012. A stipend will be paid upon completion of the youth's agency program and upon submission of a written reflection. Applications can be found at the RE pages. Endowment Fund Recognition Wall Unveiling. Mar. 17 and 18, after worship services. You are invited to celebrate the unveiling of the new UUCF Endowment Fund Recognition Wall in the Commons. This magical mosaic tile artwork will thank founding members of the Legacy Society, who will be represented as birds flying from a luminous chalice. Created by Willow Bodman, it is sure to be cherished now and for generations to come."

Celebrate the Greening of the Earth! Spring Equinox Ritual and Celebration. Sun., Mar. 18, 5 p.m. Memorial Grove (Sanctuary in bad weather). Bring the whole family. We will sing and dance, renew ourselves and bring in the springtime. Please bring a small token from nature that you can leave behind. Unitarian Universalist Christian Fellowship Revival: Many Voices, Many Verses Welcoming the Feminine in Christianity. Mar. 22-25, Hosted at UUCF. Explore women's many voices of faithfulness through history and celebrate the way that the revelational presence of the feminine in Christianity is growing the spirit of the church today. Improve the Quality of Your Life. Join Possibility in Action. Thursdays, Mar. 29 and Apr. 26, 7:15-9:15 p.m., Room 5 ; and Sundays, Mar. 18, Apr., 15, and May 13, 1-3 p.m., Room 5. Are you tired of whining, griping and complaining? Would you like to have more effective communication with your family, friends and coworkers? The group Possibility in Action is now available at UUCF to provide growth and discovery in these areas. Adults and teens are invited and do not have to be UUCF members. Art Contest for Our Daily Bread (ODB). Submissions due Mar. 30. Create the design for ODB's 2012 Complete the Circle Community Event and Food Drive this October. Artists of all ages are invited to create an image to be turned into a "living picture" by hundreds of community members and photographed by Art for the Sky artist Daniel Dancer to raise awareness about hunger and need in Fairfax County. Artwork should convey ODB's mission to "empower the community to help our neighbors maintain self-sufficiency." Winning design recieves $200 cash prize!

Exploring Our UU Heritage in Boston. Sat., Mar. 31- Tue., Apr. 3, Boston, Mass. Our Coming of Age Program includes a trip to Boston to see the Unitarian Universalist Headquarters and to take in the many UU Heritage sites in Boston. We will stay in the UUA owned guest house on Beacon Hill, next to the State House. We are inviting all interested teens to participate in this trip. There is also space for interested adults. 11th Annual Youth and Teen Performing Arts Celebration! Sat., Apr. 14, 6-8 p.m. Sanctuary. Suggested donation - $10/adult and $5/youth. This annual event has become a decade-long tradition here at UUCF, as we celebrate the amazing talents of our young people.

UUCF Yard Sale 2012. May 5. The annual UUCF Social Justice Yard Sale will be here before you know it! Please consider volunteering a few hours to assist with set up on May 2, 3 and 4, and to help on the day of the Yard Sale, May 5. UUSC National Youth Justice Summit. Jul. 7-14; Boston, MA. This social-justice leadership conference will offer young people ages 14-18 unique training grounded in UU theology and practices. Through interactive workshops, service learning and reflection, summit participants will develop their understanding of privilege, identity and economic justice, while gaining the skills and support to work for social change in joyful, meaningful and sustainable ways. UUSC Civil Rights Journey. Jul. 22-29. Atlanta, GA, and Birmingham, Montgomery, and Selma, AL. While visiting historic sites in the South, young people ages 15-20 will meet some of the courageous people who worked to desegregate schools, register new voters and bring an end to racial discrimination in the U.S. Perfect for individuals, youth groups and a limited number of adult chaperones, the trip will be led by Rev.
