 Share their Hearts

I had a telephone call interview with Je'net from jail and I will never forget what she said to me because it really touched my heart. It just so happens that our birthdays are on the same day, Dec 24th, and she said, and I quote "because we were blessed to be born on the same day, I'm going to take a chance on you." And she did- she took a big chance on a woman with no money, no job, a drugg addict and a thief. Now, I am proud to say I am none of those things. With the love and support of GHH I have managed to stay on the right path.

The question that I am most often asked is... "why didn't you just leave him?" Now, why didn't I think of that? There is an answer and the answer is...so I would not end up exactly where I did. With nothing but a broken heart, broken dreams, broken relationships and a broken body. Any program can feed and house you but I have been given the greates gift of all. The chance to remember who I am, and that I am still useful, unique, and have something to offer to others...but mostly to myself.

"...the money just ran out. We (my sister and I) were evicted and became homeless.Shirley got sick and passed away and some friends from church helped me find a place here with Grandma's House. I finally got my social security check started and am saving for a place of my own."
