Family Fun Walk for Hope
walkers

Our First Annual Family Fun Walk was a great success! The Family Fun Walk for Hope provided entertainment for all ages. Adults were able to walk for the cause, while children had the opportunity to participate in other fun activities.  In addition to the actual walk, a silent auction, raffle, and craft fair took place to help increase the donations for this special event. Thank you to all of our volunteers, participants, and sponsors! Look out for our 2010 Family Fun Walk later this year and our Disney Give a Day, Get a Day opportunities!

Holiday Motel Children's Party
Our third annual Christmas party was also a success! Over 100 families lined up on the morning of Dec. 19th in the courtyard of the El Dorado Inn in Anaheim. Families waited in-line for their free pancake breakfast, Christmas gifts, and a visit from Santa Claus that went from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thanks to the Rooster's Foundation, we were also able to hand out 100 preparedturkey dinners, accompanied by mashed potatoes and stuffing. Also, special thanks to the Lions Club of Anaheim for the pancake/sausage breakfast, Sunny Delight, Miss Vietnam Beauty Pageant of Garden Grove for food filled backpacks, Sportsclips, "Payless Gives Back" for shoe gift certificates, Senator Lou Correa,   Assemblyman Van Tran, Toys for Tots, and Angels on the Move for donating toys, and the Chinese Culture Club of Garden Grove for all of your hard work that made that day possible.

Nanaz Kidz- Motel Families Feel the Love

Nana's Kidz is a program that feeds children who are on the free lunch program at school and are burdened with the additional hardship of living in a motel, or in other homeless conditions.  Every weekend during the school year and every week during the summer, these kids receive food to carry them through the times when access to the school cafeteria is not available. Beginning with just 5 children in 2007, this program is now serving 180 children in Garden Grove, Anaheim, Orange, Santa Ana and Tustin. Each child receives over 616 meals, backpack and school supplies, haircuts, holiday food boxes and gifts and the knowledge that someone out there cares about them. Hunger in Orange County is a critical issue. There are currently over 600 desperate children on our waiting list.   Please consider helping at least one child this year for just $25 per month ($300 per year). Or...talk to your business or church about sponsoring your own site in 2010! Choose the city and we will begin an additional distribution site with a contribution for 10 kids for an entire year!  Help us bring hope to these families in need.

Watch Out for Our February Newsletter!

Watch out for February newsletter, where we will be highlighting our "Make a House a Home" project at our new shelter location. This newsletter will highlight all of our sponsors who helped make our shelter a HOME for the holidays.  Sponsors include Old Navy, The Gathering , the Turn Around Church", Home Depot and Diana & Wesley  Santos.

Thank you so much for all of your support to Grandma's House of Hope. It is through your kindness that GHH continues to fight the war on hunger and homelessness in Orange County. Your contribution helps enhance the lives of women and children who are struggling to survive   in   your own communities.  From humble beginnings we continue to trust God for opportunities to serve His Kingdom in 2010.

Genuinely,

Je'net and Pat Kreitner
