Calamity Cubes, Graham Lindsey, Ugly Valley Boys
Monday, April 16

Location: Rock Island Live - 101 N. Rock Island
Contact Phone: 316-303-9800

Graham Lindsey is known for his dark razor sharp lyrics and his stripped down approach he takes to American roots music. The Ugly Valley Boys evoke the lonesome sound of the desert, the classic soul of country, and the open space of the West in original songs that are wickedly engaging and smartly crafted. The Calamity Cubes! are a Kansas thrashicana band featuring guitar, banjo, and upright bass.

OLD MILL TASTY SHOP
Old Mill Tasty Shop

604 E. Douglas

Phone: 316-264-6500

Hours:

Mon-Thurs

11:00am - 3:00pm

Fri

11:00am - 8:00pm

Sat

8:00pm - 8:00pm

Old Mill Tasty Shop has been a staple of Downtown Wichita since Otto and Erna Woermke opened its doors in 1932. It survived the Great Depression and the decline of Downtown Wichita and stayed open until 1981 when Otto died. In 1982 Mary Wright bought Old Mill Tasty Shop and kept the marble-toped soda fountain restaurant alive. Now Mary and her son Don Wright run Old Mill Tasty Shop and they have been extremely successful at it. They celebrated the restaurants 80th birthday this year!

"Old Mill" as it's commonly called features daily specials or "blueplate specials" (Thursday is Chicken Fried Chicken = delicious), soups, salads, sandwiches and Mexican dishes. Add variety to your original homemade soda (syrup mixed with carbonated water) with a splash of chocolate, vanilla or cherry. Mary's chicken salad (a recipe she inherited from her mother) and her green chili are also customer favorites. Two of the original menu items from Otto and Erna's days remain which are liverwurst and a peanut butter banana sandwich. Whatever it is you are craving - lunch, dinner, breakfast or just a sweet snack, Old Mill Tasty Shop is a must try for any Wichitan.

A big thank you goes out to owner Mary Wright for supporting the Downtown Clean Up Day effort by providing lunch to all volunteers this Saturday. We appreciate it!
