Keep a watchful eye out for Willie the Wildcat. He will be popping up all over downtown this week as he Paints Wichita Purple in anticipation of K-State vs. West Virginia.
Willie is a clever cat, so you'll never know where he will turn up next. We'll give you a fighting chance and post clues on Downtown Wichita Facebook page whenever Willie is on the move. Once you find Willie, simply snap a shot and upload it to our FB page tagging 3 of your favorite wildcat friends. PRESTO! - you'll be entered to win 4 tickets to the K-State vs. West Virginia Wildcat Classic on Thursday, December 8. Winner will be announced at noon on Thursday.
We guarantee that Willie will be visible from the street and you won't have to enter any building in order to get the coveted photo op. First Friday
As the name implies First Friday happens the first Friday of each month. First Friday is a monthly music crawl featuring local Kansas, and regional artists, performing at venues in and around downtown. This monthly event is held in an effort to draw locals and visitors into the heart of the Wichita metropolitan area in an experience that exposes local talent, and increased the awareness of the arts culture. With Christmas in less than 60 days, the City of Wichita is doing its part once again to make sure children's holiday wishes get to the North Pole in time!
Letter drop-off boxes will be located at CityArts, Old Cowtown Museum and the Mid-America All-Indian Center Nov. 28-Dec. 14. Every letter dropped off in person by the deadline will receive a response from Santa himself. Letter writers will also be included in a drawing for a variety of gifts, including the grand prize of a ride on a Wichita fire truck.
