Bring on the Cats Wichita!

 

On December 8th, 2011 INTRUST Bank Arena will be hosting the Wildcat Classic, Kansas State University Wildcats vs. West Virginia University Mountaineers.

 

WDDC is teaming up with INTRUST Bank Arena to encourage both K-State and KU to schedule games in Wichita each season. As part of the promotional campaign, we have launched "Paint Wichita Purple."

 

As a Downtown business owner we would love to have your support to bring attention and instill interest in Downtown, not only before and after the game - but the entire week of the game. Since we do not have a lot of money for this promotion, we are asking our community partners to team up with us and make Downtown Wichita the best "Aggieville South" it can be for 24 hours.

 

Following is a list of other initiatives that have been completed or are currently being organized to promote Downtown to visitors and fans.

 

We are currently working with the City of Wichita to issue a proclamation dubbing the intersection of Waterman St. and S. St. Francis "Wildcat Way" for the day of the game.

 

The renaming ceremony is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 8th to mark the occasion. We are hoping that Willie the Wildcat, Frank Martin will be able to attend as well as local TV stations.

 

INTRUST Bank Arena has painted all the locker rooms K-State purple for the game and will be showing support by having the entire staff wear Paint Wichita Purple shirts the day of the game. In the South lobby of the Arena the Paint Wichita Purple image will be on the 30x30 marquee and purple gels will be on the lights.

 

Clear Channel will be cycling a "Paint Wichita Purple" digital billboard the week of the game on all their available billboards.

 

Window displays will be put up at prominent locations close to the Arena featuring the opposing K-State and West Virginia jerseys.

 

The Garvey Center currently has their purple lights up and on at night in anticipation for the game.

 

All parking attendants will wear purple the night of the game as well as all the digital parking signs Downtown will have the Paint Wichita Purple logo displayed the day of the game.

 

As a Downtown business we would love to have your support.

 

We are asking Downtown bar/restaurant owners to:

 

• Use purple K-State cans from your local Budweiser distributor.

• Offer a "Wildcat" special the day of the game and have your servers wear purple to show off their wildcat pride.

• Paint/decorate your storefront windows with your best KSU sayings.

• Participate in the Willie the Wildcat Facebook promotion by taking a picture with the full size Willie cutout that will be circulating area businesses and upload it to Facebook

• Put up the Wildcat Classic posters now being distributed to promote the game.

Once again, we would love to have your support in this endeavor to promote Downtown Wichita.
