Downtown Cleanup

As the saying goes, "many hands make for light work." Please lend yours to help us spruce up our Downtown. Over the next few months, Downtown will be our community's front door as we welcome crowds for the River Festival, Concerts, Car Shows, the Chili Cookoff and Tallgrass Film Festival. Please help us make it a beautiful place to be. We invite you to sign up, show up and make a difference in your community.

Meet at 9:00 a.m. on Kennedy Plaza in front of Century II on May 14. Free parking is available just north of Douglas next to the Garvey Center. We'll have water to quench your thirst and cleaning supplies will be provided by the City of Wichita. Projects will include sweeping, applying a fresh coat of paint on curbs and streets and general clean up. The day's activities will wrap up at noon with a complimentary lunch.

We recommend loose, comfortable clothing and work gloves. Extra brooms, paintbrushes and rollers are always welcomed, but they should have your name on them. Volunteers under the age of 18 are welcome, but must be volunteering with an adult.

Spend the morning cleaning and then go shopping! Every volunteer will receive a free 2nd Saturday re-usable canvas bag. Carry the bag and receive discounts on the second Saturday of every month at over 50 participating merchants in Downtown/Old Town, Delano and the Douglas Design District.

Grab your friends, co-workers or teammates and join the effort. A special award will be bestowed upon the organization or business team that shows the most spirit that day. This is a rain or shine event.
