"Project Downtown represents a bold vision and clear objectives for the future of downtown Wichita. With the plan in place, we are ready to move forward and start implementation." -Larry Weber, WDDC Chairman

Over a year of planning and community input has gone into this dynamic plan for our city center. The Wichita Downtown Development Corporation, in partnership with the City of Wichita, is pleased to announce the release of the draft Project Downtown document. For a full press release, visit the City of Wichita's website.

Project Downtown identifies market demand for as much as $500 million in private-sector capital investment over the next 15-20 years that would result in an estimated 1,500-1,600 new housing units, 125,000-175,000 square feet of retail space, 400,000-480,000 square feet of office space, and 350-475 hotel rooms. The plan outlines 43 action steps for accomplishing this revitalization potential through efforts focused on creating unique downtown places, expanding transportation choices and enabling development. An estimated $100 million in parking, streets, and parks/open space improvements are recommended to be made in conjunction with the private-sector revitalization projects.
