Medical Students with Disabilities: Challenges and Successes

The AAP is sponsoring an interactive panel discussion at the AAMC Annual Meeting in Washington, DC on Saturday, November 6, 2010. The panel will include three participants, each with a physical disability, in various stages of their medical training. The presentation, moderated by Dr. Patrick Foye, will explore how medical schools can creatively accommodate students with physical and other disabilities, maximizing success for not only the students but also for the medical school as a whole....read more. |
Now Accepting Applications for the 2011 Program for Academic Leadership
The AAP, under the leadership of Michael W. O'Dell, MD, is sponsoring the Program for Academic Leadership (PAL), a three-year program to develop academic leadership skills in junior PM&R faculty. The goal of PAL is to provide a basic administrative framework and skill set to promising physiatric academic faculty to enhance their leadership abilities within a department. Society of Directors of Research in Medical Education (SDRME) Call for Research Paper Proposals
The SDRME is interested in supporting the writing of review/synthesis papers that make a substantial contribution to advancing medical education practice, theory, or research. The grant will award up to $4,000 in total to the primary author. View proposal and submission guidelines. |

Mark Zupan Pilot
MTV is developing a pilot for a potential new documentary series about young people who have recently suffered serious injuries and are rebuilding their lives. The subjects will work with Mark Zupan, quad rugby player and star of the movie "Murderball," who will offer his expert advice on how to move forward after a serious injury. MTV is looking for people between the ages of 16-28 who are recovering from a serious injury and would like to share their story on national TV.
