As we begin to look forward to the 2011 AAP Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, April 12-16, it's also time to take a look back. The 2010 AAP Annual Meeting was a great success! We sincerely appreciate the time and effort shared by the program committee, the outstanding speakers and all of the attendees.
If you presented at the 2010 meeting, a letter has been mailed to you containing participant feedback from your individual presentations. Please expect to receive the letter by June 28th. Also, keep an eye out for the AAP Summer Newsletter which will include detailed results from 2010 Annual Meeting evaluations.

Health Care Reform Council and Advisory Group Opportunities
There are numerous opportunities for appointments to various councils and advisory groups established under the health care reform legislation (i.e. the Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health).
If you are interested or know someone who may be interested, please send in a brief bio and resume to brensing@physiatry.org. The AAP and PPSV will forward the documents to the appropriate parties at the appropriate times, or feel free to pursue the opportunities on your own.

Parent Project for Muscular Dystrophy
Frank Pidcock, MD representing AAP on Task Force
Frank Pidcock is a pediatric physiatrist and an associate professor in the Johns Hopkins Hospital PM&R Department and will become the director of pediatric rehab at the Kennedy Krieger Institute on July 1, 2010. Dr. Pidcock will be representing the AAP on the Parent Project for Muscular Dystrophy Task Force.
The goals of the Task Force are to improve primary care providers' and other relevant professionals' ability to identify symptoms of neuromuscular disorders early and make appropriate referrals, and to increase clinicians' awareness of neuromuscular disease as a cause of developmental delay in young children ages 6 months to 5 years.

Orthopedic Rehabilitation Award
RFP from the Department of Defense
The Department of Defense released an announcement for a new funding opportunity on May 7, 2010. The intent of the award is to fund clinical rehabilitation studies focused on improving functional outcomes of severe musculoskeletal injuries associated with military combat. The Coordinating Center will collaborate with multiple MTFs in order to maximally benefit wounded military soldiers.
