James McLean Outstanding Resident Award
RFC Announces New Award and SIG Initiative

The AAP's Residents/Fellows Council (RFC) is excited to announce the new James McLean Outstanding Resident Award.  This award will recognize a resident with outstanding academic achievements.  The first award will be given at the 2011 AAP conference in Arizona.  Look for specific instructions regarding the nominating process in future AAP newsletters.

The RFC is also continuing its project to expand medical school student interest groups (SIGs) around the country.  If your affiliated medical school has a SIG, please e-mail me the faculty or resident liaison to this group.  If your school does not have a SIG, someone in your department should work to get one started. Please e-mail me at [email protected] for questions or information about your school's SIG.  This year, we look forward to publishing the first ever PM&R SIG newsletter.

Planning is already in full swing for the 2011 AAP conference and the resident program is certain to be as strong as ever.  We hope to see many residents there from all over the country.

Eric Wisotzky, MD

Chair, AAP Residents/Fellows Council
