Eagle Cam Back Online Soon!

Three Eggs on Eagle CamAs our Eagle Cam fans know, several months ago we lost our raptor cam computer when construction at the Blackwater NWR Visitor Center allowed water to get into our computer room.

Since that time, we've been working to get a new PC and get a new cam installed at our Eagle Cam tree. We're excited to announce that we're close to going live. Be sure to visit our website for the latest update.

Join the 2012 Mid-Winter Eagle Survey

Eagle in FlightThe annual Blackwater NWR Mid-Winter Eagle Survey is scheduled for Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Rain date is Thursday, January 5. Volunteers are welcome. Find out how to participate by visiting the Blackwater NWR website.

Read Blackwater NWR Weekly Waterfowl Surveys

Blackwater NWRThe U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff at Blackwater NWR have kindly begun publishing their waterfowl survey results on the Blackwater NWR website. Now you can find out what types of birds are currently visiting the Refuge and plan your visits accordingly.

Remember the Friends of Blackwater

Friends of Blackwater logoIf you're planning your end-of-year giving, don't forget the Friends of Blackwater NWR. You can donate to the Friends or become a member. The Friends do many wonderful things at the Refuge such as run the Eagle and Osprey Cams, help maintain all the land and paddling trails, assist with the student environmental education programs, run the Eagle's Nest Bookstore, maintain the Butterfly Garden and the Natural History Library, and many other activities. So be sure to think of us when donating to your favorite charities.

Sincerely,
